Hey, Duck fans, here’s this month’s special video, a little late for the actual day but here we’re celebrating Donald Duck’s birthday.

Happy Birthday, Donald Duck!

Hey, duck fans! This month we’re celebrating the anniversary of Gyro Gearloose by taking a look at what exactly he really is. Chicken, sparrow? What do you think?

Hi, duck fans! This month’s video is all about some seldom seen villains in the Donald Duck and Duck Avenger comics. This one was a request vid! If anyone out there would like to request something, feel free to send me a message!

We’re getting iced with an Arctic Blast of chilliness in my neck of the woods! Hope you’re staying warm wherever you happen to be. At the very least, “Blizzard Tonight,” a painting by Carl Barks, should warm your hearts, if not your feet and hands…

Merry Christmas and a Happy Birthday to me! Love these Funko POP! figures…

Tonight, I was practically overcome with glee to tell my wife about the deals I got at Subway (coupon for a free six-inch sub…with the purchase of a drink!) and Walmart (discounts of the 75 percent off variety!). This tells me three things, which I’ll count out in letters and corresponding pictures: a.) I’m becoming an old man; b.) my life is inexorably average, ordinary, and boring; and c.) a lifetime of reading Uncle Scrooge comics has rubbed off on me, but not in ways that translate into a binful of money…

Before you bid adieu to the Christmas season (which I won’t be bidding adieu to for another week or so), here is one of Carl Barks’ greatest yarns, “A Christmas for Shacktown,” from Four Color #367 (January 1952).

If I were a Disney animation executive, I’d have this story lifted wholesale from the printed page, without changing a word, and scheduled to air as a primetime animated Christmas special in December 2018.

Now, that would be a Christmas miracle…

Sidenote: Notice how Scrooge utters variations of the phrase “only a poor old man” at different intervals in the story. Obviously, it was kicking around in the Good Duck Artist’s head, probably because “Only a Poor Old Man,” a.k.a. Uncle Scrooge #1, was mere months away from being published in Four Color #386 (March 1952).

I hope your New Year is a duck-blur of race cars, lasers, and aeroplanes. I hope you solve some mysteries and rewrite history. I hope your 2018 is filled with tales of derring-do bad and good luck tales (not pony tales or cotton tales, though). And at the end, I hope you look back on it all and have only one thing to say…

“Woo-oo!”

Happy New Year, everyone!
